Argentina wins the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 thanks to Lionel Messi

The Argentine national team was crowned FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM champions after defeating France on penalties 4-2 after the match ended in normal and extra time with a 3-3 draw at Lusail Stadium.

Argentina's goals were scored by Lionel Messi (23 from a penalty kick and 109) and Angel Di Maria (36) while France's goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe (80 from a penalty kick and 82 and 118 from a penalty kick).

Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchoamene both missed two penalties, while the Argentine national team's quartet did not.

Along with winning the World Cup, the Argentine national team made history as the first Copa America champion to do so.

Lionel Scaloni became the youngest coach to win the World Cup since his compatriot Cesar Menotti, also with Argentina, in 1978, at the age of 44 years and 216 days.

Lionel Messi was the first player to lose a World Cup final while wearing the armband and then win another.

And eight of the eleven World Cup championship matches between South American and European teams ended with a South American team being crowned the victor.
