France submit a complaint to FIFA after Tunisia's loss news
France submits an official objection due to the cancellation of Griezmann's goal in Tunisia
Griezmann scored a goal in the 98th minute of France's match against Tunisia at the end of Group D matches before the goal was canceled after resorting to video technology. The French side objected to canceling the goal after New Zealander Matthew Conger blew the final whistle. And the French newspapers revealed an official statement from the Football Association objecting to the method of canceling the goal.
"A formal complaint is being drafted before FIFA and will be submitted within 24 hours due to the cancellation of Griezmann's goal against Tunisia," the statement said.
The French side considers the return of the match referee to video technology after the final whistle as a mistake.
And Griezmann had responded to the cancellation of his goal in post-match statements, saying: “When I played the cross ball, I was already in a state of offside, but I did not touch the ball or interfere in the game.”
Griezmann added, "I told the referee that I did not move towards the ball, but the defense dispersed it in the wrong way, so the ball reached me and scored the goal."
France lost 1-0 to Tunisia at the end of Group D matches.
As for Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, he mocked the referee's performance and the cancellation of the goal.
"I hope they will answer me with the regulations," Deschamps said after the meeting. "I don't know all the regulations and they couldn't explain it to you."
And he continued, "The referee blew the final whistle and then restarted the match to review the goal game. I do not know if he could do that, and I went to ask if anyone had Collina's phone, the referee in FIFA."
France's loss to Tunisia is the first since its loss against Germany in the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup.
France will play in the World Cup final price against Poland at five in the evening next Sunday.
