World Cup 2022: Senegal beats Ecuador 2-1 and reaches the final price for the second time in its history




For the second time in its history, the Senegalese national team was able to qualify for the World Cup held in Qatar, after defeating its Ecuadorian counterpart 2-1, to reach six points from two wins and one defeat, compared to four points for Ecuador. Thus, the "Teranga Lions" occupies second place in Group A, behind the Netherlands national team, which has seven points, after its victory over Qatar, which became the first host team to leave the tournament in the first round without scoring any points after receiving three defeats.

The Senegalese national team defeated its Ecuadorian counterpart, 2-1, at the end of the first group matches of the World Cup in Qatar, to occupy second place and reach the final price for the second time in its history. Senegal lost its first match against the Netherlands 0-2 and is in the finals without its star striker Sadio Mane, the best African player this year and the second-best player in the world due to injury. She had revived her hopes of reaching the second round after beating hosts Qatar 3-1.


The meeting was decisive for the two teams, as Ecuador needed a draw only to qualify for the second round, after winning the opening match 2-0 against Qatar, then tied it with a goal for the same with the Netherlands.

As for the Netherlands, it confirmed its leadership in the group and defeated Qatar 2-0, to complete the first round with two wins, a draw and no defeats, with seven points. While Qatar became the first host team to bid farewell to the World Cup from the first round without scoring any points, as South Africa bid farewell to the 2010 World Cup which it hosted from the first round, but collected four points and defeated the defending champions France 2-1.
